Nie Ou's quiet themes and simple compositions belie the sophistication of her techniques. Echoes of the great master artist, Shitao, are evident in her use of brush and ink. Her range of different qualities of ink tone pays homage to one of her mentors, Li Keran. This catalogue was published to accompany an exhibition presented at Plum Blossoms Gallery in 1991.
